Review of The Beguiled (1971) by Dave J — 05 Jul 2010

(1971) The Beguiled.
HORROR/ DRAMA.
When Clint Eastwood had a preferred director to work with, it was Don Siegal because he would always do different projects or genres and did not want to continue doing Westerns with Sergio Leone for much of his life even though it was because of him that made Eastwood a household name! This is another one of those genres which is described as eerie and different than what I'm accustomed to seeing for the average Eastwood film during this time! Released in 1971, a confederate soldier crashes into a boarding house full of girls of different ages only to inflict different feelings which would lead to many conflictions, misunderstandings and tension with each other. Mind games are played and although it is very well made, it is as I said earlier gothicly eerie and untypical for Eastwood to be involved in!
3/4.
