Review of The Bedford Incident (1965) by James H — 23 Aug 2009
Between Fail Safe, Dr Strangelove or this one, it's hard to pick the best nuclear holocaust film. With the first two, you know that this is always on the cards but with this one, what starts out as a relentless chase of a Soviet submarine by an obsessed captain with a tired crew, it ends in one of the junior officers mistaking a statement as an order.
This has very unexpected and totally horrendous consequences for the submarine, the ship and the rest of the world. A very good movie, particularly as much of it was done in Britain.
