Review of The Beaver (2011) by Bryan F — 29 Aug 2011
This movie was, welll... interesting. Not to say I didn't like it, it's just that I felt a small level of discomfort. Don't get me wrong, I like Mel Gibson, moreso as a Director than an actor (Apocalypto and Braveheart are undeniably great movies).
I just couldn't help but wonder if this movie somehow reflects and mirrors Mel Gibson's current state as an actual person, because I could totally see him wielding a puppet to talk through much like he does in the movie, it's a very fitting role for him.
The movie was kinda funny too actually, though I'm not sure if it was intentionalyl funny or not, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the director was going for. You want to laugh most of the time, but you almost feel like it's too sad to laugh at.
This movie probably would have served better as an episode of South Park or a Family Guy joke, ultimately that's what this movie felt like, a south park or family guy joke.
