Review of The Beaver (2011) by Christopher C — 11 Sep 2011
I really didn't know what to think of this movie. I wanted to see this as it seemed so odd, but felt guilty about watching a Mel Gibson movie. Yet at the same time people go see Roman Polanski movies and for some reason they think that is okay, so I got the Beaver.
First of all, for some reason I thought it as supposed to be kind of a comedy. There is nothing funny in this movie. It seems like Jodie Foster (director) was going for quirky / serious / disturbing, but got lost somewhere.
It was interesting just because it was such an odd premise, but I spent so much time in the back of my mind rehashing Mel's downward spiral that I had a hard time trying to enjoy it. Strange movie.
