Review of The Beaver (2011) by Jake W — 08 Nov 2011
Now this indeed is a rather strange movie. Mel Gibson is in the middle of a mid-life crisis, is depressed and suicidal, and starts talking through a beaver puppet he found in the garbage. Eventually the beaver persona takes over his life.
As a look at depression Mel Gibson's performance is great, though I dont quite know If I could fully recommend it. For a comedy it's too dark and depressing and disturbing and not that funny. As a drama it kinda works.
