Review of The Beaver (2011) by Nick M — 10 Nov 2011
How can one take this movie seriously? Because it obviously takes itself VERY seriously. You can't really go wrong with a story about a suicidal man whose personality gets taken over by a beaver puppet, but they somehow find a way by not being as funny or ludicrously dumb as it should be.
Mel Gibson gives an effective performance, but it's in service to a screenplay that's nowhere near as clever as the writer believes it is.
