Review of The Beaver (2011) by Fiona B — 25 Nov 2011
The Beaver is questionable as a comeback vehicle for Mel Gibson, however his engrossing performance is undeniable. Gibson plays Walter Black, a man on the brink of insanity, surround by rejection. In a way this role is suiting for Gibson, and perhaps a way for him to excise his inner demons.
Jennifer Lawrence also gives a solid performance that adds some depth and intrigue to the story. Overall, some plausibility lines are crossed and a few too many subplots are juggled, but Gibson keeps the audience engaged.
