Review of The Beaver (2011) by Peyton V — 23 May 2012
Not quite as clever as it thinks it is. This is the story of a man who projects part of his personality through a glove puppet to stop himself from topping himself. Mel Gibson gives a great performance but the direction is staid and undemanding and I never really bought into the concept so when Gibson talks as the beaver it just comes across farcical and unintentionally hilarious, especially when the beaver turns nasty.
Its a shame cos I like Jodie Foster's other directorial films, but with this one I couldn't give a damn! (sorry).
