Review of The Beaver (2011) by Roni F — 14 Jul 2012
A very brave move from Foster, who mirrors Gibson's past blunder with the mental illness of Walter Black admirably. Mental illness is not something that can be neatly tied up, and this is exactly what Foster manages to avoid doing skilfully -- The Beaver is authentic and insightful, unlike most films about the subject.
It reminds us also that in some cases, we can only change when we reach the precipice.
