The Beaver was so much more than I expected. As someone that has been "Walter" for many years, I was touched personally starting with the "Whale" short on the DVD which reached out to the severely depressed and gave a message of hope.

The box office failure of this film confirms that there are many out there that just don't "get" what depression is. I understand that, as I believe it is a condition that must be experienced in order to be believed, as is demonstrated so well in this film.

All persons that are lost and can't come back due to a real, not imagined, knowledge of true hopelessness should see this compassionate and truthful depiction of the extreme measures required to "blow it all up" and try to live when you just don't have it in you.
