Review of The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years (2016) by Ken S — 30 Dec 2016
Ron Howard clearly put a lot of work into this documentary about the Beatles during their relentless touring days...but the tagline sums it all up for me "The band you know...the story you don't.
" As someone who discovered the Beatles through the Anthology, I can state quite clearly that this is a highly inaccurate sentiment. There is very little here that can't be found in the Anthology film, book, or CDs.
There only a few new anecdotes here, and some pretty nice looking HD concert footage. Really I'd rather that apple release the Shea Stadium concert on blu-ray, and the "Let It Be" documentary (and how about the full version of the rooftop concert!).
For those who haven't watched the Anthology more times then they can count, or newcomers to the band, might be worthwhile. For me...it nice to see some HD concert footage and see a clip or two I hadn't yet to see.
