Review of The Beastmaster (1982) by Darius G — 26 Jun 2011
THE BEASTMASTER [1982]: A cheesy, early 1980's low budget Fantasy classic that has become nothing short of a Cult Classic after nearly 30 years after it was made. THE BEASTMASTER sees the hero called Dar who seeks his revenge against the evil priest Maax (played by an over the top Rip Torn) with the help of his friends a Hunter and his young pupil, his love interest a freed slave girl and his beasts, a Tiger (painted black), A Eagle and of all things two ferrets.
All I can say about this cult classic aside for its painfully obvious faults, it's a highly amusing, cliched , and entertaining Fantasy Sword and Sandals epic. My rating for the beloved 1982 cult film, THE BEASTMASTER is a solid 60%.
