Review of The Beast Must Die (1974) by Gordon B — 13 Dec 2012
Camp of the highest order mars this "Who dunnit?" werewolf tale, with even the great Peter Cushing mailing in a performance among his weakness ever put to celluloid. Is he a Swede? Is he a German? Is he a Brit? Who cares.
Lead Calvin Lockheart is not only over-the-top in his performance, he goes completely over-the-edge and around again to where he started. Some fun moments - particularly in that the producers allow viewers to try and guess the werewolf, complete with on-screen one-minute clock - but this Amicus offering is essentially a time-waster.
They should have kept the clock up there the entire time to remind viewers how much of this mess was left.
