Review of The Beast in the Cellar (1971) by Colin F — 18 Jan 2010
Dame Flora Robson and Beryl Reid are elderly sisters with a secret in their cellar - a literary chestnut served up for quite muted shocks here. Nothing very original or brilliant but the lead actresses give the enterprise a touch of class and this is perfectly acceptable.
Look out for Roberta Tovey (Susan in the Peter Cushing 'Doctor Who' films) who very early on makes a brief appearance as a scream-and-run-away girl.
