Review of The Beach (2000) by Juli R — 19 May 2010
I like this movie. It's not as good as the book, but I'm a fan of DiCaprio, Ledoyen, and Swanson, and they don't disappoint. Unfortunately, this film doesn't know if it's a thriller or a love story, and it sinks into cheesiness at times.
It's clumsy. If you have been on the backpacker trail, some of this movie will ring true.
