Review of The Beach (2000) by Davis M — 12 Jan 2014
Young Leo charms the pants off you in this break-down-the-system romp into escapism at the most perfect beach utopia that can be created. The movie and had strong undertones of the dangers of pleasure throughout it, but the tone was off putting at times and the film relied heavy on formalistic style.
It reeked of late 90s cinematography, which was nostalgic and cute and over done. Even though it has its flaws, You can't help but smile when you hear some New Age music and see some pretty young people playing on a spotless beach.
