Review of The Beach (2000) by Patrick L — 22 Mar 2013
The Beach stars Leonardo DiCaprio and the dvd, part of a two film-two dvd collection, has an "embarassment of riches" in that the dvd is creatively designed with beautiful imagery throughout its layered menu system and it contains biographies on the cast and crew, a music video, the promotional ads, a film featurette and to view the features alone takes a long time. This dvd earns a 10/10 for presentation and features alone.
Leo's character, Richard, travels alone to Bangkok to vacation. He meets a young French couple, encounters a drug addict who leaves him a map of an island then commits suicide,.
Then Richard and the couple travel to the island where they find a community. Romance and tragedy occurs and then they return to their lives in the outside world. 10/10.
