Review of The Bay (2012) by Justin J — 04 Nov 2012
I went into The Bay not knowing anything about it, and I was hoping it would live up to it's really cool trailer, and I have to say that I was definitely creeped out, and I will next time think twice about going into the ocean or a lake..
This movie reminded me of Contagion a lot! So going into this movie think Contagion meets Paranormal Activity. There are a couple jump moments, and a lot of gross looking people with these huge blisters and there are a lot of people that die and have half there mouth gone or their tongues missing. The movie starts off pretty fast, getting into the gross stuff right away which is really nice. You do have to have patience watching this, because it gets pretty slow at times, and kind of boring. Now after seeing the trailer, I was thinking, hey, there are going to be zombies in this movie! But sadly there are no zombies, once the parasite things get into you, you just break out in rashes and blisters, and you die.
I did like the concept of the movie, and the acting was really good. I did enjoy The Bay, but I was let down because it wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. I definitely recommend this movie if you liked Contagion, or if you like monster type movies.
