Review of The Bay (2012) by Kyle L — 26 Mar 2013
The Bay is one of the most surprising Horror films of 2012 and it is a worth watching Horror film. The plot of this film is very similar to last year's Contagion where in the town of Chesapeake Bay the people of Chesapeake Bay are celebrating the 4th of July where people are having fun and enjoying the festival.
But soon everybody starts dying from an infection where they're bodies started getting eaten by parasites called Cymothoa Exigua where the film shows various footages of the other people who were in the town who are infected while the rest are not.
To be honest I did enjoy The Bay and it is a great Faux Documentary Horror film and the movie bares similarities to 2011's Contagion because its concept and execution is similar to this one and I did enjoy the film when I watched it a lot.
There are lots of great things about The Bay. What's great about The Bay is that the whole film is shocking and disturbing at the same time and the film's shocking content is creepy and intense and I did enjoy the film's style a lot and the film's disturbing content is totally overwhelming and very gruesome and nightmarish at the same time.
There are lots of disturbing images in this film and I admit I was really disturbed last night when I watched this film and footages of people covered with lots of boils, lessions and other things that were mentioned in the film like amputated legs and tongues eaten are probably one of the most disturbing moments in the film and the disturbing moments in the film are what I consider as one of the most disturbing moments in Horror movie history and the footages in the film are one of the scariest moments in Horror movie history and overall I did like the idea of this film a lot.
What I also like about this film is that the whole film also has some parts where the atmosphere is well used. There are a couple of impressive scenes where the atmosphere is well used like the scene where the two cops enter the house that scene did a really good job on using the atmosphere and overall the atmosphere is well used in this movie.
The last things I like about The Bay is that the whole film has a realistic feel and the movie's tone is very realistic and I did enjoy the idea of the film so far thanks to Director Barry Levinson.
Now the acting is great the casts did a really good job with their work in the movie and overall the actors did a fascinating job with they're work in the film. Director Barry Levinson did a good job with his work in the movie and I was amazed with his work on his first Horror movie since I remember his last film was Envy with Jack Black and Ben Stiller as the main leads of the film but I totally like Barry Levinson's work on this film a lot and he made a strong Horror film that will give you nightmares for the rest of your life and I wonder what he will make next in the future.
Overall The Bay gets a 10/10 because this film is just as good as last year's Contagion and it is full of disturbing parts that will give you nightmares for the rest of your life. The lesson of this film is never throw any hazardous waste in the water that can harm people.
