Review of The Bay (2012) by Dov D — 06 Sep 2013
First off, I have a great deal of respect for Director Barry Levinson... That being said, this movie has no business existing. The premise is incredibly interesting to me actually, but as a whole, this movie is just awful.
The only redeeming aspects are the quasi-factual information given and one or two scares... That's it... The acting is horrible, and as much as it pains me to say, Levinson appeared to be completely lost amidst the dozens cameras shown in what appears to be a random, loosely chronological order.
The makeup is well done and extremely gruesome, so that's a plus. While watching this, it just felt way too much like something Al Gore threw together in a town desperate for attention for the sole purpose of peddling his environmental agenda.
Bottom line, this film took a risky, ill-advised swing and struck out big time.
