Review of The Bay (2012) by Corbin R — 13 Jan 2015
The director of Rain man in found footage movie?????????
Well actually yes and do you know something this film actually works really well .
Levinson sets the film in his hometown state of Maryland where of course he set his trilogy of Baltimore films so he is on home turf with this tail of an ecological disaster involving a chicken farm and some parasites normally found in fish which thanks to pollution have doubled in size.
The heart of the film is of course what happens when we mess with nature but Levinson adds plenty of icky moments as some scares to enliven proceeding's.
I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of found footage movies but all that stuff works here and the cast of unknowns also give it a harder and realistic edge.
It may be a little silly in places but you have to admire Levinson for having the courage to try something new.
