An interesting premise and some really effective creature fx are ruined by high-school-level-bad acting and horrendous editing.
Did you like a specific shot earlier in the film? Don't worry, you'll see it again several more times in one of the multiple unnecessary flashback sequences. Any tension that could have existed is entirely ruined by the most grating of all voice-overs.
I don't know how in the world the lead actor landed this role, but I do so hope the casting director was fired. This film is painful to watch for all the wrong reasons.
