A massive letdown...
I'm as big of a Batman fan as they come and I was beyond excited for this movie after several stunning trailers, I even liked the casting of Pattinson of Batman and wanted to see him prove all the doubters wrong...
First I'll say what I did like about the film:
-The score.
-The cinematography.
-Colin Ferell's unrecognizable performance.
-The Batsuit and Batmobile.
-Catwoman's portrayl.
Now what I didn't like about this one:
-The snail like pacing.
-Emo Bruce Wayne who doesn't separate his Batman persona from his regular life.
-The lack of screen time and chemistry for Alfred.
-The jumbled and disjointed plot that doesn't seem to know exactly where it's going.
-Riddler's ultimate ploy at the end of the movie not aligning with his motivation from the rest of the film.
-The lack of memorable action scenes - Some rather cringey/weak dialogue which I blame on the writers and not the stellar cast.
While not an entirely a bad film, it simply left me with a feeling of "meh' which is not what I expect from a big budget lice action Batman reboot. A reboot has to feel necessary and this movie does nothing better than the Nolan film's already pulled off. I literally went home and rewatched Batman Begins after I left the theater just to remind myself of what a Batman movie should feel like.
