Review of The Basketball Diaries (1995) by Roxanne R — 03 Aug 2011
Great performance by Leo DiCaprio and the rest of the cast! This is a gritty, real, sad look at what drug addiction can do to an adolescent. The teen (Jimmy) is played by Leo DiCaprio who hangs around other classmates that share a passion for basketball and want to make it to the NBA.
Along the path they become "acquainted" with two destructive friends coke and heroin. Based on the autobiographical novel by former heroin addict, rocker and poet Jim Carroll, The Basketball Diaries provide an explicit portrayal of the destructive capabilities of heroin addiction! Recommended.
