It is a rare, near forgotten pleasure when a movie gets beyond dark and gratuitous, hero and villain violence into the human heart in isolation. I felt deeply exposed through these unfulfilled characters to our shared vulnerability and limitations.
Uncannily intimate acting by the 4 main characters, that I am beginning to believe after decades of watching good film, can only be accomplished by the Irish. My deep respect goes to the meticulous mind of Martin McDonagh.
