Review of The Bank Dick (1940) by Joe L — 10 Jan 2009
I'm beginning to warm up to fields. the gags in this film play better than in 'it's a gift,' and it has a crazy stream of consciousness that sometimes reminded me of 'mr. show.' he's a performer who made it by being purely 'himself,' and I can't think of another person who comes close to standing in the corner he carved out for himself.
I love the way he takes a hit and expresses pain. often, though, I find myself saying 'i -get- it already...'.
