Review of The Banger Sisters (2002) by Chris W — 18 Aug 2004
Banger Sisters, The (2002) Susan Sarandon, Goldie Hawn, Geoffrey Rush, Robin Thomas, Erika Christensen, Eva Amurri, D: Bob Dolman. Entertaining comedy vehicle for the two actresses to play a pair of former ?60s groupies who haven?t seen each other in twenty-years.
Liquor-chugging flower child Hawn flees her West Hollywood bar to Phoenix in need of cash from girlfriend Sarandon?who?s running from her wild past?now an uptight housewife and mother, and ends up crashing her suburbia lifestyle.
Most of the dialogue is boorish and sitcom-ish, but the two stars work vigorously well together and the film itself has more depth than we expect. Though Rush?s depressed screenwriter character seems pointless to the film.
Hawn?s daughter, Kate Hudson also portrayed as a groupie in ALMOST FAMOUS. Running Time: 97 minutes and rated R for language, sexual content, and some drug use. ** ½.
