Review of The Bang Bang Gang (1970) by Matt P — 15 Oct 2010
This is a great modern day noir(neo-noir). Although it took me two views to finally understand the premise and exactly what was going on, it was just a fun movie to see and unravel before you. Great pacing, twisted story, all make this movie key elements to a confusing whodunit sort of thing.
It starts out like a sentimental drama, then gets fast-past into a thriller, then all of a sudden it's a hilarious comedy. Downey Jr. was spectacular as a fast talking-quirky petty thief, and Val Kilmer does a tremendous job as a gay consultant.
The camera work, neo-noir style was well crafted and just pure impeccable. The music was spotty and matched the time frame and events perfctly. Shane Black's best film since Lethal Weapon 1.
