Review of The Bang Bang Club (2011) by Kathleen A — 05 Nov 2011
I didn't really intend to watch this movie because I consider that there are people and situations that shouldn't be made into films. And for me, the real Bang Bang Club shouldn't have been portrayed in a movie because the movie would fail in that portrayal.
But it was actually not bad at all - on the contrary, I found it very accurate and intense. It's disturbing and thought-provoking and I really loved the characters. Performance-wise, Ryan Phillipe was the weakest, with Taylor Kirtsch being the strongest for me.
I still think it could have been much stronger. The people portrayed in this movie are legends and heroes in their own way, and this movie did little of making them more famous and loved. But they certainly tried. It was a great try and that's pretty much all there is to it.
