Review of The Band's Visit (2007) by Mihir D — 14 Apr 2008
A movie with a soul. That's all I want to say.
Each frame is like a beautiful painting and the acting brings these paintings alive. Subtle and precise. The well written screenplay raises many issues about love, ego, age and team work. The humour is not over the top at all, it's the situation that is funny the actors don't act funny. A very well directed piece of work.
Once it ends you think of communication differences but then you also think of how humans can learn from one another and communicate even without knowing a particular language because some are universal you don't need to explain everything. The band's visit "was not important and not many remember this" but those who experienced it will never forget how eventful as well as meaningful this short visit was.
