Review of The Band's Visit (2007) by Vijay M — 14 Sep 2008
An extraordinary little drama. Touching, affecting, and very very funny at times. So many scenes will compete for your favourite memories of this flick. Sasson is impressive in the lead role, uncomfortable with human contact as it reminds him of his own pain.
Ronit gives us a strong, independant, passionate character, one that is impressive despite her isolation and loneliness. Sensitively directed with an eye for what's real and true. The pace is only occasionally slow, but the characters will stay with you.
This is a movie you really should see.
