Review of The Band's Visit (2007) by Nusret K — 23 Sep 2008
Despite this being a film about an Egyptian band stranded in a forgetten town in Israel, it is far from a musical. Instead, writer/director Eran Kolirin delivers a wonderful film full of characters who immediately pull you in, hinting at layers underneath while revealing just enough humanity to intrigue.
It's a quiet film with warm comedy that focuses on the inflections before and after lines are spoken and how loneliness, hopes and diappointments show no prejudice.
