Review of The Band's Visit (2007) by Natalie M — 31 Aug 2009
I've had this film on my "must see" list for a while and am happy to have finally watched The Band's Visit. The story is deceptively simple, an Egyptian police orchestra takes a bus to the wrong town in Isreal, and are stuck there for the night awaiting transport to their concert venue.
In the course of one night, a beautiful, layered story emerges, complete with multi-dimensional characters with interesting back-stories of their own. It's a story of connection amongst strangers from different cultures, and generations, and how at times, those differences are so different after all.
Great film.
