Review of The Band Wagon (1953) by Jennifer B — 16 Oct 2007
As far as musicals go, I'm really rather ignorant. My exposure has been limited to only a handful. But having just watched The Band Wagon a few hours ago, I'm hooked! This is one of the final Freed Musicals for MGM, but it's lush and lavish as any film from the era. The gorgeous Technicolor presentation and the charming cast make for a memorable piece. Cyd Charisse in particular is outstanding--could not take my eyes off of her. From her graceful dance moves to her natural good looks, she's something to behold.
