Review of The Band Wagon (1953) by Robert S — 28 Jun 2008
I stumbled across this while channel surfing. I didn't see the beginning of it, but I did catcha lot of the dance scenes. Really cool! What struck me most was how contemporary the musci was. In this 1953 movie Fred Astaire, et.
al., are dancing to some very new stuff for the time - some jazz riffs that were, if not cutting edge, at least were close. I kept thinking of Moulin Rouge from several years ago - it was wonderful, too, but completely derivative.
Not sure The Band Wagon!
