A brilliant alternative Western based loosely on a true story. I have a book with the story of Josephine Monaghan and the movie really took a great story and made movie magic with it. Everyone in the movie is superb, and if you can't believe Suzy Amis could play a guy, then you need to see the photo of Josephine, who was apparently only 5 feet tall, blonde, and very feminine, but managed to fool everyone that she was a guy for almost 40 years!
