Review of The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005) by Andrew J — 14 Jun 2007
I love the title of this movie. Reminds me of The Beatles "The Ballad of John and Yoko".
The rest of the movie, however, isn't as great as it could be. The interactions between father and daughter were brilliant in flashes, but otherwise a bit bland. The introduction of the new family, and particularly the two brothers, seemed very forced, as if they were chess pieces being shuffled to strengthen the theme.
This is one of those movies I mentioned in which Paul Dano is a complete psychopath. I love it. Daniel Day Lewis has a cool accent, too.
