Review of The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005) by Adam W — 30 Jan 2008
I didn't really know anything about this film before I saw it. Daniel Day Lewis stars as Jack, a man who lives with his daughter Rose on an island off the east coast of the U.S. He has lived on the island for several years and fights to keep the island the way it is, trying to stop the construction of expensive houses for rich people to live in.
It's got a nice cast, Catharine Keener is very good as the woman who Jack lets move in. I also really enjoyed Ryan McDonald as one of Keener's sons that moves in as well. It's a nice, dramatic movie, directed by Daniel Day-Lewis's wife.
Worth a look.
