Review of The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005) by Steven R — 21 Mar 2008
Extraordinary film directed by Rebecca Miller, starring an excellent Daniel Day-Lewis as a dying ex-hippie who sets out to start a new life for him and his daughter, played by a fantastic Camilla Belle. This film tends to be a little creepy at times, and is not recommended for a mainstream audience by any means. However, the writing is top-notch, the acting is perfect, and the soundtrack is amazing. Paul Dano, who starred alongside Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood", appears here also in a very disturbing role.
Like I said before, not for all tastes, but film buffs should give it a try.
