Review of The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005) by Theresa G — 21 Mar 2007
I can`t help liking this movie, although the plot had its ups and downs. The cast was absolutely satisfying, Daniel Day-Lewis was a bit more outstanding than the rest though. The location on Prince Edward Island, the old commun, was perfectly chosen for a fitting frame of the story, you could literally feel the wind blowing and hear the sea close by.That combined with some Bob Dylan songs and the whole thing had the ideal freedom mood.
I found the main thread of the story, the relationship between father and daughter, the most exciting actually. Pretty rare, that a movie is about that kind of special love and affection. The ending was pretty dramatic, but that`s of my taste.
