Review of The Badge (2002) by Zane T — 25 Jun 2010
This movie starts off interesting, but it crashes fast. It doesn't know if it wasn't to be a quirky thriller or a dark comedy or a straight laced mystery. It's terrible. Billy Bob does his same schtick that was in Monster's Ball.
Patricia Arquette sleep walks in this performance. She hasn't been interesting since True Romance and William Devane as the villain is awful. I guess someone was off camera holding up cue cards for him to read.
The plot involves a stereotypical small town southern sheriff, played by Billy Bob, who is investigating the murder of a transsexual which suddenly turns into a political conspiracy. All this leads to a conclusion that doesn't seem right and the actual murderer of the transsexual is the quintessential example of the extraneous character.
It feels more like a cheat then a resolution. This movie is awful.
