Consider the time it was produced, it is a marvelous piece of work... to really enjoy it, you must understand that time period and place yourself in the position of the mother given the time and information you are given.
.. I can't help but grieve for the characters in this film.. and some fine acting delievered. one of the best and original "evil child" movies.
