Vincete Minneli was MGM s resident artist with films like Gigi,The Band Wagon and Meet Me in St Louis under his belt.

But besides his musicals Minneli made some wonderful Dramas such as this and Some Came Running.

This film Tells a story of how Hollywood can turn your dreams to dust or gold depending on who you step on to get it.

Its no suprise that Martin Scorsese frequently sites Minneli as one of his favourite directors as themes in this film occur in his films as well.

Also catch the loose sequel of sorts Two Weeks In Another Town which is Minnelis fairwell to the studio system which made his name.
