Review of The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) by Manny C — 01 Sep 2008
Vincente Minelli is best known for comedies and musicals (or was rather), but here he showed a remarkable flair for drama in this tale of a hated movie excecutive and those who have felt his toxic touch.
Kirk Douglas delivers stupendously in one of his best roles, and Lana Turner is enchanting. Part of the fun of this film is trying to identify all the Hollywood figures and films that are slyly being referenced.
