Review of The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) by Chris S — 16 Dec 2008
The film The Bad and the Beautiful is more or less in the category of bad. Kirk Douglas surely loves playing annoying and loathsome villains and anti-heroes, and those roles suit him. He portrays a greedy and ambitious man who will do anything to produce great pictures even if it means betraying the other people around him.
And predictably enough, his ambitious character is not punished in the end and is instead forgiven without going through suffering or atonement.
