Review of The Babysitters (2008) by Josh W — 10 Jan 2010
Relative newcomer Katherine Waterson is impressive as she plays a high schooler crushing on the man whose kids she babysits, but when things go a little farther than a simple drive home one night, leading him to pay her extra, things go a little unexpected. Shirley then starts seeing the possibilities of extra money, and begins a small business of babysitters who secretly offer an extra bonus to the married men who drive them home...for a substantial fee.
A quietly smart film with excellent performances by John Leguizamo and Cynthia Nixon, "The Babysitters" is unexpectedly entertaining, despite a slightly quick and somewhat unfulfilling conclusion that you wish had slightly more depth and heart.
