Review of The Babysitters (2008) by Ali S — 20 Mar 2012
First, this is not the film for you if you are offended by graphic sexual content. (I do think though that should be obvious to anyone who reads the DVD box.).
Secondly, it is definitely an interesting watch. It uses a very unique story to explore very common feelings of loneliness, pleasure, and taboo and dives into broad topics like morality and boudaries. It keeps your interest from start until finish and manages to surprise you along the way.
Thirdly, it certainly could have been better. It felt like a low budget film to me and not in a good way. It tried to present itself as much more artistic than it really was. It sells itself as a dark comedy but I'm not sure that comedy enters into the equation at all, which is just fine.
