The first horror masterpiece in years, THE BABADOOK is completely flawless. Now I'll let you know now, those of you looking for a monster movie will be disappointed. BABADOOK isn't just some horror film, it's a thoughtful and complex examination on depression, loss, and obsession, but it just so happens to have a monster movie paint job.
Basically, Babadook is a side character, despite the fact that the film is named after him. It's a movie about the people. Beautifully crafted, acted, paced, and scored, Jennifer Kent's THE BABADOOK isn't just a great horror film, but a flawless work of cinema in general.
