Review of The Awful Truth (1937) by Bob M — 15 Jun 2007
The funniest screwball comedy I have seen. Crackling chemistry between Cary Grant and Irene Dunn is the reason the film is rediscovered by every subsequent generation. The salacious dialogue between Dunne and Grant is hilarious and one jump ahead of the censors.
Every part is well cast and the film holds up remarkably well, it really does not feel like a period piece. You just know that Hollywood is going to remake this one.
