Review of The Awful Truth (1937) by Nick G — 13 Jun 2009
Cary Grant, Irene Dunne, and Ralph Bellamy form an amusing love triangle (love quadrilateral if you include the dog, Mr. Smith) in this 1937 gem. Screenwriter Vina Delmar translates the humour of Arthur Richman's play nicely, and Grant is a natural born romantic lead in these screwball comedies.
Robert Kalloch's gowns are opulent and eye-catching, even in black-and-white.
